Confederations Cup: South Africa – Spain Feeling Inside The Stadium
Goal.com has followed the tournament from the very beginning, and we are in the Royal Bafokeng Stadium for the third place play off between Spain and South Africa…
The stadium is by no means full, with a great number of seats left empty while more spectators arrive as the game goes on, possibly due to the overcrowded park and rides leading to the venue.
Despite the lack of numbers, the stadium is buzzing with the opportunity for South Africa to come third in their host tournament, while Rustenburg realize that they are hosting the European champions, and their possession brand of football is appreciated by the fans.
Special cheers are reserved for the likes of Fernando Torres and Pienaar, and as the teams entered the pitch a fantastic noise emanated from the proud crowd, most of which have come out in support of Bafana.
A few fine saves from Itumeleng Khune in the South African goal are greeted with applause, while Bafana attacks bring the crowd to life as anticipation grows in the hope that a third place is within reach.
