Indian Super League: East Bengal's Rahul Bheke joins Kerala Blasters' pre-season training

The East Bengal defender failed to find a suitor at the Indian Super League drafts but will now be part of Peter Taylor's side.

Rahul Bheke, the East Bengal defender who made headlines recently for scoring against Mohun Bagan, has reached Trivandrum to take part in Kerala Blasters' pre-season.

With Nirmal Chettri out injured, the former Mumbai FC player has been included in the franchise's rosters. With the Calcutta Football League (CFL) coming to a close, Gurwinder Singh and Shilton Paul, the captains of the two Kolkata giants have also joined the Kochi-based franchise.

The team will also be boosted by the arrival of Shankar Sampingiraj, the young Bengaluru FC player, who is now back from his short stint with Unione Sportiva Cremonese, a team in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione in Italy.

The Kerala side, who reached the final last season are the only outfit not to have travelled overseas for their preparations. Blasters will kickstart their campaign against NorthEast United this season on October 6, 2015.
