The former French international could be soon seen plying his trade in the inaugural edition of the ISL...
There could be a Manchester United and Arsenal flavour in the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) as Mikael Silvestre is part of the central pool for marquee players.
The 36-year old has played for some of the best clubs in the world, namely Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen amongst a few.
He was in India for over a month as a pundit for a leading sports broadcaster during the World Cup.
“I knew about football in India and that is growing. People are following the game. Football of all over the world is followed by the young generation of India,” Silvestre told Goal.
With the ISL slated to kick-off in September this year, Silvestre backed IMG-Reliance, who are All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) marketing and commercial partners, in their latest venture.
“It (ISL) looks like it’s a big deal for Indian football. It’s a project that comes on the other side of the I-League. It is to attract more people and sponsors. It will be good for football in India generally,” he mentioned.
On being asked whether he would be a part of the ISL, he said, “There is a good chance. I have signed for the central pool.”
