Fabregas is Manchester United's top target, claims club legend Irwin

The former Ireland international reveals that the Premier League champions want the unsettled Barcelona star "badly" and will "move heaven and earth" to get him this summer
Manchester United have made Cesc Fabregas their No.1 transfer target this summer, according to Red Devils legend Denis Irwin.

The midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place since returning to Barcelona from Arsenal for 42 million in 2011, prompting reports that he is unsettled at Camp Nou.

And Irwin, who now works as a club ambassador for United as well as a media pundit, claims that the Premier League champions have identified the former Gunners star as the ideal man to bolster their midfield.

"Cesc Fabregas has zoomed up United's transfer target list to the top position and the champions are going to move heaven and earth to get him," the former defender told reporters.

"He wants out of Camp Nou and United want him badly so the deal should be done easily enough."

Fabregas has publicly insisted that he will stay and fight for his place at Barcelona next season, while Goal revealed in May that United are also monitoring his team-mate, Thiago Alcantara.
