Reinhard Rauball says he wants the Bundesliga to remain as competitive as possible and will bring in more high quality players to keep his side at the top

Borussia Dortmund will invest heavily in the squad over the summer, says the club's president Reinhard Rauball.

The Ruhr giants have already lost Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, with Robert Lewandowski likely to follow the 21-year-old but Rauball wants the team to remain competitive.

"The Bundesliga is wondering to what extent we are willing and able to invest," he is quoted as saying by Ruhr Nachrichten.

"Even in this regard, we are willing to make the duel of the league's top two teams as exciting as possible."

BVB finished 25 points behind Bayern in the Bundesliga standings but made it to the Champions League final, where they lost 2-1 to their Bavarian rivals.

They have already bought Sokratis Papastathopoulos to the club from Werder Bremen and have been heavily linked with moves for Kevin De Bruyne and Christian Eriksen.
