The highly-rated 20-year-old has been the subject of speculation over a return, but his representative says no Italian sides are worthy of his signature

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti will not be making a return to Italy to play in Serie A next season, according to the player's representative.

The 20-year-old has been linked with the top clubs in Italy despite only joining PSG 12 months ago from Pescara.

But his agent Donato Di Campli insists a move back to Serie A is not on the cards as none of the sides credited with an interest in the youngster could satisfy his demands.

"I confirm what I have said in the past – a lot of money is needed to sign Marco,” Di Campli told calciomercato.it.

“No Italian team at this moment in time has what is needed to sign him.

“If we then add the player’s desire to stay then I can say with some certainty that he will remain with PSG over the summer."

Verratti is one of Italy's most promising prospects with many comparing him to legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo, as well as seeing him as the 34-year-old's natural successor in the national side.

Having represented Italy at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, he made his debut for the Azzurri in 2012 against England, before scoring his first international goal against Holland in February this year.
