thumbnail Hello,

The eccentric Partenopei chairman believes he will be able to appoint a successor to the outgoing Walter Mazzarri soon but will not be pressed on any names linked with the job

Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted that outgoing coach Walter Mazzarri will be replaced shortly and wants his successor to prove "he has balls".

Recently, De Laurentiis suggested the new coach’s name would begin with the letter ‘m’ but the film producer now seems to have broadened his search as to whom will take over at the San Paolo Stadium.

"The new coach will come in a short time. The main feature of the new coach will be that he must have a deep love for the Neapolitan way, that is crucial," he said during a lively press conference.

"He must live in the area and also learn to speak the way of Naples. Tomorrow I will go to London, I’ll be back in Italy on June 16.

"I have heard the names: [Rafa] Benitez, [Manuel] Pellegrini, [Roberto] Di Matteo, [Jurgen] Klopp - who told me that was not available until 2016 - [Laurent] Blanc, [Didier] Deschamps. There are also Italians available, I had also thought of Luis Diego Lopez, but then I would have ended up insulting [Massimo] Cellino [Calgiari president].

"I do not want to make a team of young people to grow and then sell. I will also not let myself be influenced by formations in the choosing of the new coach. The new coach has to convince me that he has balls."

Napoli finished second under Mazzarri this season but the coach parted ways with the Partenopei and is a favourite to take over at Inter should Andrea Stramaccioni be fired..
