Celtic boss Lennon ponders summer move for Wolves striker Doyle
The Parkhead manager has confirmed that he attempted to sign the forward in January and revealed he will consider approaching the Championship club again at the end of the season
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has hinted at renewing interest in Wolves striker Kevin Doyle after failing with a January move.
The 29-year-old was linked with a move to the runaway Scottish Premier League leaders following interest in current star forward Gary Hooper - with Norwich City failing with multiple bids during the winter transfer window.
Hooper is widely expected to leave Celtic in the summer after another prolific season - with 26 goals this term so far - and Lennon has eyed Doyle as an ideal replacement.
"I'm a big admirer of Kevin obviously - I tried to take him in January," Lennon told reporters. "I think he's a quality player. He is that all-round type of centre-forward that I really like.
"I can't talk about another club's player - I don't want to disrespect Wolves. But we wanted him. I’ll think about [a summer bid]."
Another striker who has speculation surrounding his future at Parkhead is Anthony Stokes, but Lennon moved to quell talk of an exit from the Scottish giants, adding: "Anthony is a very important player for us."
