Everton are a fantastic club, says Twente's Fer

Despite seeing a move to Goodison Park collapse in January, the Toffees are still keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old after sending scouts to the Netherlands early in March
Twente midfielder Leroy Fer says that Everton are "a fantastic club" amid reports that the Toffees are interested in signing him, despite a deal for the 23-year-old breaking down in January. The Netherlands international was close to finalising a move to Goodison Park late in the transfer window but the deal was called off after an issue arose between the two clubs surrounding his medical.
After finding out that the Dutchman suffered a serious knee injury whilst on international duty last September, Everton wanted to renegotiate the reported €10 million fee that had previously been agreed by both clubs.
However, Twente's apparent refusal to negotiate ended any hopes of a deal being made during the transfer window.
Fer is still full of high praise for the Premier League club but says he is busy concentrating on turning Twente's poor season around in their remaining eight league games.
"It is still a fantastic club, but at the moment I am not thinking about it," he told Algemeen Dagblad.
"Only one thing counts right now: ending the season at FC Twente in a good way."
Despite the move breaking down in January, Everton are reportedly still interested in Fer, and it is understood that representatives from the club travelled to the Netherlands to watch the midfielder play in Twente's 1-0 loss at home to Vitesse
A spokesman for the Dutch club told Sky Sports: "There were a number of English clubs at the game," but refused to comment on whether scouts for Everton were present.
