Newcastle & Tottenham interested in Hubocan, says agent
The Zenit defender has been trailed by the two Premier League clubs according to his representative, but is happy to remain with the Russian giants for the foreseeable
Zenit St Petersburg defender Tomas Hubocan is wanted by a number of top European clubs including Tottenham and Newcastle, according to the player's agent.
Hubocan, who can operate as either a centre-back or full-back, was signed by former manager Dick Advocaat in February 2008 as a replacement for Martin Skrtel who left to join Liverpool only a month earlier.
The 27-year-old has won plaudits for his displays on domestic and European fronts this season and his represenative, Michal Holescak, has claimed the Premier League duo - along with Inter and Napoli - are tracking his client.
"Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in him, but we had contacts with Inter and Napoli too," Holescak told tuttomercatoweb.com.
Despite the links, Holescak has denied the defender is searching for an exit from the Russian giants as he is currently fulfilling his ambitions domestically and in Europe.
He continued: "Tomas is a top defender, a player for big European teams. However he is happy in [Luciano] Spalletti's team. He's focused on the Russian Premier League and on the Europa League."
