Heynckes ignoring Schalke speculation
The veteran coach believes that he is only being linked with the Veltins Arena job because of the good work his staff have put in this season
Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has played down speculation that he could put off his retirement to take charge of Schalke next season. The Gelsenkirchen outfit have been linked with a move for the veteran trainer, who will leave his post at the end of the season, to replace interim boss Jens Keller.
"I'm old enough to approach this in a relaxed manner," the 67-year-old was quoted as saying by Bild.
"I can't stop my name being listed by one club or another if they are looking for a coach for next season.
"It's because my team, my coaching staff and I are doing a very good job, and clubs may wish for that. I'll make some comment on my personal situation at the end of the season, when I've retired."
Bayern face Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday at the Emirates.
