The 34-year-old’s current terms were set to expire at the end of the season but he has now committed to the Swans until the summer of 2015, with the option of a further season.
Tremmel has often played second fiddle to first-choice keeper Michel Vorm since joining in 2011 but a succession of injuries to the Netherlands international has seen him make 18 appearances this term and the former Bayern Munich man is keen to be part of the ever-improving fortunes of the Welsh outfit.

"I have been at a number of clubs but the feeling here between the players, staff and supporters is different. I feel very, very good here. Of course, last season I didn’t play the amount of games I had hoped for but this season has been a completely different story on the pitch for me.
"I have played in a lot more games and big matches against the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to name but a few.

"I am contributing a lot more, which is great, and when the opportunity came along to sign a new deal here I was very happy to do that.
"The club has been on a remarkable rise over the last few years and it really is a nice story - I was keen to be a part of that story, so the new contract is great news for me because I feel I have a lot more to give this club."
Swansea are set to face League Two outfit Bradford City in the Capital One Cup final on February 24, their first-ever domestic showpiece, and, with doubts over Vorm's fitness ahead of the Wembley clash, Tremmel is looking forward to participating in the "major highlight" of his 15-year professional career.
"The cup final is the major highlight of my career, no doubt about it," he enthused. "To play in a massive final of a top competition like this is huge for any player.
"So to have the chance of running out at Wembley and playing in the Capital One Cup final later this month is something we can all look forward to."
