Gerrard would 'love nothing better' than to see Sneijder at Liverpool
As the Reds held "constructive" talks with the Dutchman's representatives, the skipper is hopeful that the experienced Inter star can make the move to Anfield
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has enthused that he would "love nothing better" than to welcome Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder to Anfield. As Goal.com exclusively revealed on Wednesday, the Reds held "constructive" talks with the Dutchman's representatives as they attempt to put together an affordable financial package for the high-earning Serie A star, who has stalled on a move to Galatasaray in the hopes of moving to the Premier League.
Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Saturday that he is looking to add experience to his relatively young squad and, though he jokingly objected that Sneijder "plays where I play", Gerrard is keen to see the transfer go through.

Gerrard then, more seriously, added: "He's a top player. I think we've seen at every major tournament he delivers. He's done it in the Champions League for years, but we'll have to see on his wage demands.
"I think he gets paid very well and he'll have all kinds of options I'm sure, but I'd love nothing better than to see him in a red shirt."
When it was pointed out to him that Sneijder has declared that his decision will not be about money, the Reds star replied: "If that's the case - and if Brendan wants him, of course - we'd love to welcome him and I think he'd be a fantastic player for the club."
Gerrard also expressed concern that star striker Luis Suarez may leave the club if the Reds cannot recapture Champions League football.
