Redknapp: Remy rejected opportunity for QPR talks
The former Tottenham manager has admitted that the Ligue 1 striker rejected the chance to have a meeting with the R's, in a move which could have seen him arrive at Loftus Road
Harry Redknapp has revealed that Loic Remy will not be joining QPR after the striker shunned a meeting with the club, whose relegation battle is putting off possible transfer targets.
The Marseille striker has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, although it is believed he was the primary target for the R's, whose manager Redknapp had previously been interested in signing him for his former club Tottenham.
Redknapp admitted that it is frustrating trying to attract players to Loftus Road.
“I went over last week to watch him, not that I needed to, as I watched him seven times when I was at Spurs. I couldn’t even get a meeting with him,” Redknapp told reporters.
“I was hoping for a meeting with him to encourage him to come and he wasn’t being disrespectful. People say he was being disrespectful not talking to us but he was in a position where last year at Spurs he was interested and I got on well with him, and I think he felt embarrassed coming to see me to say he wasn’t interested in coming to QPR. He just felt he was in a position he found difficult to handle.”
Remy is not the only French target whom Redknapp wants to sign. The QPR boss confirmed that the club have inquired about Yann M'Vila, who last season was linked with a move to Arsenal after revealing that he wanted to leave Rennes.
“We have made inquiries. I don’t know if he wants to come. I watched him a lot at Spurs. I know all about him. He has had a lot of problems but he is a good player.
“The key is money and where the club is at the moment. They see you at the bottom and probably think, you know… ”
