Fiorentina agree Giuseppe Rossi fee with Villarreal
The Viola have confirmed that they have struck a deal with the Spanish side for the 25-year-old Italy international, and expect to complete the transfer imminently
Fiorentina have confimed that they have agreed an undisclosed fee with Villarreal for star striker Giuseppe Rossi, with contractual details soon to be sorted.
As Goal.com exclusively revealed on Thursday, the Viola were hoping to seal the Italy international's signature on a permanent basis ahead of Juventus, who were only willing to take the player on loan.And it seems that Vincenzo Montella's side are leading the race to bring Rossi to Serie A, having settled on a transfer fee.
A statement on the Florentine club's website read: "Fiorentina and Villarreal can confirm that they have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Giuseppe Rossi outright, subject to the signing of the contract."
Rossi had a troublesome 2012, in which he injured his knee ligament in March, saw Villarreal relegated in the 2011-12 season and missed out on Italy's march to the Euro 2012 final.
