Valencia's Jordi Alba believes he was not out of line when he spoke of his wish to prove himself at Barcelona.
Earlier in the week, the Spain international revealed he would relish the chance to return to the Catalan side, having been part of the famed La Masia academy between 1998 and 2005.
"It is clear that for any player of Barcelona's youth squad their dream is to play for the club's first team," Alba said during a press conference.
"I had to get on with my life elsewhere and Valencia gave me that opportunity, that is it.
"I was not disrespectful to Valencia in any moment and I did not say anything that was out of this world."
Despite Eric Abidal agreeing a new deal with Barca, it is believed that the Catalan side are still interested in Alba, whose contract with Valencia expires in the summer of 2013.
