Juventus could be set to swoop for Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italy international is currently plying his trade in Serie B after Sampdoria were relegated from the top flight last season, and may be available for a reasonable fee in the new year.

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta is a great admirer of the midfielder after working with him during his time at Sampdoria, and it is believed he would be willing to part with youngster Luca Marrone plus cash to land the 30-year-old.

Twenty-one year-old central midfielder Marrone was on loan with Siena last season and helped them gain promotion Serie A, but despite making his debut for Juventus in 2009, he has yet to make an appearance for the Bianconeri this season.

Palombo has played 13 times this term for Sampdoria as they look to bounce straight back to the top flight. They are currently eighth in Serie B, four points adrift of the promotion play-off places.
