Manchester City Ponder €41m Bid For Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets - Report

The tough-tackling midfielder could be a shock January target for the big-spending English club although it is unknown whether the player would be tempted to move
Manchester City are plotting a sensational €41 million bid for Barcelona's Sergio Busquets, according to a report from TuttoMercatoweb.

The Premier League club's interest in the defensive midfielder will bring comparisons to the €30m deal that took Yaya Toure to England from the Catalan giants.

However, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has often chosen to deploy Toure in a more advanced attacking role and is believed to be keen on strengthening his midfield, despite the recent arrival of the injury-plagued Owen Hargreaves on a free transfer.

An approach for the Barcelona youth product is expected in January, although it is unknown whether Busquets would be tempted to leave the 2010-11 Champions League winners for big-spending City.

Busquets made 46 competitive appearances for Barca last season.
