thumbnail Hello,

The Turkish international midfielder has attracted the interest of several European giants and could very well be on the move this summer after excelling this term

Nuri Sahin has been one of the undisputed stars of this year's Bundesliga campaign and he has played an important role in Borussia Dortmund's successful season so far.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals and set up nine more in 30 Bundesliga appearances to help BVB to the summit of the table.

The Ludenscheid-born schemer joined the Borussia youth academy in the summer of 2000 at the tender age of 11 and became the youngest player to have played in the Bundesliga in August 2005.

Having spent one season on loan at Feyenoord, he returned to BVB to become a key player at the Bundesliga table toppers.

Sahin's superb performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere and the influential central midfielder has been linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park. With a reported buy-out clause of only £5.25 million, several of Europe's biggest clubs are keeping tabs on him.

The left-footer is currently injured and is not expected to play again this season and he has also refused to comment on his future until the end of term.

Nonetheless, one of Europe's most coveted talents has a decision to make; to stay with Dortmund and attempt to recapture his best form and lead his club in the Champions League or move on, as clubs from England, Germany, Italy and Spain closely monitor his situation.

Sliding to the big time? | Sahin is being tracked by European giants

Borussia Dortmund
Sahin's current contract with Dortmund runs until the summer of 2013 and he could very well decide to stay at his current club if they offer him a new and improved deal. Dortmund will play Champions League football next season and Sahin is an integral part of the strategy at his current club under Jurgen Klopp, making the idea of staying put a rather entertaining thought.

Bayern Munich
Bayern were linked with Sahin ahead of the January transfer window, but they never made a move. They could very well come back this summer though as new head coach Jupp Heynckes is likely to move current holding midfielder Toni Kroos further up the pitch. A midfield partnership of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sahin would make Bayern a force to be reckoned with again in Europe.

Inter
Inter director Marco Branca has already confirmed that the Nerazzurri are closely monitoring the situation of Sahin and there's a big chance that he'll become an important first team member at Giuseppe Meazza. Players such as Esteban Cambiasso and Dejan Stankovic appear to be past their best and Sahin could prove to be the perfect signing to revamp Inter.

AC Milan
The Serie A leaders are eager to add some fresh blood to their midfield in the summer transfer window and Sahin could have a bright future ahead of him at San Siro if he moves to the fashion capital. Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Ambrosini and Clarence Seedorf all have expiring contracts and could be on their way out of Milan at the end of the season, thus making way for Sahin.

Chelsea
Chelsea have again been linked with the German-born Turk, a player they came close to signing when he was just 17. One could see why the Blues are interested in signing their long-time target now he has reached maturity. The current champions have been struggling to find their best form this season and an ageing team needs to be revitalised ahead of next season. Sahin could play an important role at Chelsea, but it remains to be seen whether his style of play suits the Premier League.

Arsenal
Arsenal are seemingly preparing for life after Cesc Fabregas, who cannot prevent himself being linked with a move to Barcelona. Sahin could very well be the right man to replace the Spaniard at the heart of the Gunners' midfield. The occasional BVB skipper has all the characteristics of a typical Arsenal transfer objective as he's still young, yet still has plenty of experience at the top level, and is available on the cheap.

Man City
Manchester City aren't exactly in desperate need of a new midfielder, but the Citizens have nonetheless been linked with a move for Sahin. He would face stiff competition from players such as Gareth Barry, Nigel de Jong and Yaya Toure if he decides to move to City and it appears to be very much unlikely that Sahin will join manager Roberto Mancini's troops.

Barcelona
Arsenal's Fabregas remains the Catalans' primary transfer objective, but they reportedly consider Sahin to be a good alternative if they fail to lure their youth product back home. It's unlikely that Sahin will break into the first team right away at Camp Nou, but it could be a good transfer in the long term.

Real Madrid
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking for a left-footed player to partner Xabi Alonso in midfield and recent reports from Germany suggest that Sahin is one of the top candidates at Santiago Bernabeu. Sahin is a close friend of Madrid's Mesut Ozil and both players share the same agent. It appears to be more likely that the Blancos will sign a big name midfielder though if they indeed go after a new partner for Xabi. Therefore, Madrid seems the most viable option should he decide to call time on BVB.
