Barcelona Want To Swap Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic For Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas - Report
The Blaugrana will try a different approach...
By Luis Mira
Barcelona want to include striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their deal for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Sweden international's future at Camp Nou has been the subject of much speculation after failing to live up to expectations in his first season at the club.
The arrival of David Villa looks set to push Ibrahimovic, who joined Barcelona in a €69 million move, down the club's pecking order, and the Blaugrana are considering moving him on.
And reports in Spain indicate that Barcelona are considering using the former Inter striker as a makeweight as they look to lure Fabregas away from Arsenal.
Barcelona's negotiations for Fabregas have reached an impasse as the Gunners remain keen on holding on to their prized asset, having rejected a first offer of €35m for the Spaniard.
It had been suggested that Arsenal wanted to have Barcelona's Yaya Toure included in the transfer of Fabregas, but with the Ivorian edging closer to a move to Manchester City, the north London club are reluctant to proceed with talks.
Using Ibrahimovic as makeweight could be the only way to convince Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to let Fabregas leave, as he has lacked depth in the striking department since the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor last summer.
