Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has said he was adamant about joining Napoli, but they wouldn't take him in, so he joined Al-Ahli instead.
Cannavaro claimed the Vesuviani snubbed his appeals to grant him what would have been a "dream" return to his hometown club.
"I want to thank all those who would have wanted me at Napoli. I am a Neapolitan and everyone knows it would have been a dream to be able to wear the shirt again," he told Napolimagazine.com.
"But,despite the all signals I sent Napoli directors, it was not possible to join them because of a total indifference on their part with regards to me.
"I have always been a Napoli fan, but the choice to move to Dubai is the right one."
Cannavaro signed a two-year deal with Al-Ahli after he was released by Juventus.
Meanwhile, Cannavaro is with la Nazionale in Brussels, where they take on Mexico tonight.
