Lorient Shun Arsenal’s €10 Million Laurent Koscielny Bid – Report
The Gunners have made a second bid, but the answer from the Stade du Moustoir was the same...
By Robin Bairner
Lorient continue to grasp firmly onto central defender Laurent Koscielny, rejecting a bid from Arsenal worth in the region of €10 million for the 24-year-old, according to L’Equipe.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the promising centre-back over the course of the last fortnight, with suggestions in France that a €5m initial offer was turned down around two weeks ago. Arsene Wenger’s side have been equally frustrated after a raid worth up to €10m was rejected, though the implication is that the offer from the Premier League club was bonus dependent.
Les Merlus had previously asked for €8m for the former Tours defender, whom they signed last summer for only €1.5m. Such have been the performances of Koscielny amongst France’s elite over the course of the last 12 months, his value has rocketed, and interest in the defender has now been drawn from several corners of Europe.
Should Christian Gourcuff’s side receive a re-jigged offer from Arsenal, probably in the form of more money up front and fewer bonus clauses, it is said that the Breton club could finally yield.
Morgan Amalfitano is another Lorient player hotly tracked. Girondins de Bordeaux lead the chase for the versatile midfielder, though Paris Saint-Germain, Saint-Etienne and Lille are amongst the sides also on his case.
