thumbnail Hello,

Prandelli's signature is imminent...

Italian FA president Giancarlo Abete has confirmed Cesare Prandelli will sign his four-year Italy deal within the next few days once he rescinds his Fiorentina deal.

Marcello Lippi will leave the post of head coach after the World Cup, but Prandelli will have everything in place before then in order to facilitate a smooth passage.

"Cesare Prandelli will sign over the coming days, after he ends his deal with Fiorentina," Abete told the press.

Abete has tried to explain the FIGC's position after Fiorentina publicly criticised them for not keeping them informed about the Prandelli scenario. The Viola accused them of doing things secretly, but Abete has responded.

"We waited for the end of the season and Fiorentina's permission before we contacted Prandelli, who we met last Sunday," he added.

"We knew Lippi would not continue back in December. We had not had contact with the Della Valle family prior to the end of the season."
