Real Madrid Bound Jose Mourinho Includes Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard In List Of Transfer Targets - Report
Treble-winning Jose Mourinho has begun drawing up his plans for life as Real Madrid coach and has included Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard in his list of targets according to the Sunday Times.
Mourinho has been promised unprecedented control at Madrid, and will concentrate in large on bringing in defensive reinforcements to the Bernabeu.
The first signing of the Mourinho era is reported to be Inter Milan full-back, Maicon, who will make the move from Milan to Madrid with the 'Special One' after admitting in the wake of his side's Champions League success, that he may be tempted by a move to Spain.
It is speculated that Mourinho will also sign a left-back, and has singled out Lazio and Serbia defender Aleksandar Kolarov to be the man to fill that role.
While Mourinho has been associated with an interest in being reunited with Frank Lampard, it is Lampard's England team-team, Steven Gerrard who now appears to be at the top of the ex-Chelsea manager's list alongside Roma's Daniele de Rossi.
While the Inter squad flew back to Milan, Mourinho is said to have stayed in Madrid last night with family and friends. He will return to Milan this week where his children will finish the school term before leaving for pastures new in Madrid.
