Milan are not for sale - that is the message from Fininvest, the club's holding company, as they issue a firm response to reports that suggested Silvio Berlusconi had plans to sell.

Libero published an article on Friday morning suggesting an Arab-led business group was ready to buy the club from Berlusconi.

However, Fininvest have, once again, stepped in to give their account of affairs behind the scenes.

An extract of a statement from Fininvest reads:

"Fininvest would like to confirm that there is no existence or intention of a project to sell AC Milan. We face a daring fantasy, to say the least, which has no minimum foundation."

It comes just days after Berlusconi was quoted as saying he had plans to sell the club because its sustainability was in question; that was also denied.

Fans have become disgruntled at hearing plans to slash costs and curb spending. On Saturday they were pictured displaying 'Milan for Sale' banner.
