Arsenal Consider Re-Signing Real Madrid Midfielder Lassana Diarra - Report

Lass Diarra, Real Madrid (Peace Cup)
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering re-signing Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to reports in the Metro.

The Gunners are looking to bring in a defensive midfielder to protect skipper Cesc Fabregas, and Wenger is willing to make a move for a player he allowed to leave the club in January 2008.

The France international left Arsenal to join Portsmouth and his career went from strength to strength, helping them win the FA Cup before making a £20million move to Real Madrid.

The former Chelsea player has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu however, and could be surplus to requirements, as Real boss Manuel Pellegrini looks to trim his squad during the summer.

The 25-year-old could be available for a relatively small fee, with Wenger ready to splash the cash this summer, as they look to end a five-year trophy draught.

Diarra fell out with the Arsenal manager during his spell in North London, as he was often left out of the starting XI, however he may be tempted to return to his former club if he is guaranteed regular first team football.
