Arsenal Set To Sign Bordeaux Striker Marouane Chamakh In The Summer - Report
By Sumeet Paul
Having been linked with a move to the Gunners in recent months, it's believed the long running saga for Chamakh's signature will finally end with him joining Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract expires at Bordeaux in the summer.
Chamakh, who scored in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Lyon, will add much-needed goals to an Arsenal squad which has been lacking a real cutting edge up front following the injury to Robin van Persie and several other key first team members.
The news of injecting additional firepower into the ranks will be met with some relief by Arsenal fans, who have seen Nicklas Bendtner as the only striker capable of leading the line this season in Van Persie’s absence.
Having helped his side to the French Ligue 1 title last season, while topping the goal scoring charts, Chamakh will be hoping to ensure back-to-back titles as Bordeaux currently sit third, just a point behind joint-leaders Lyon and Montpellier with two games in hand.
