Chelsea Plotting Audacious Swoop For Liverpool Goalkeeper Pepe Reina - Report

Chelsea are chasing Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, and will lodge bid for the Spanish shotstopper when the transfer window reopens in the summer, according to a report in The People.
Following a sub-par start to the current Premier League campaign, the Reds currently find themselves in a four-way race for fourth place and a consequent prize of qualification for next season's Champions League competition.
However, should Liverpool fail to land entry to Europe's prestigious tournament, then manager Rafael Benitez may be forced to sell one or more of his side's greater assets in order to compensate for the income that Champions League football would have provided.
Interest in silky striker Fernando Torres would be rife, so too would captain Steven Gerrard be the recipient of transfer speculation, yet the Stamford Bridge side would be most interested in Reina as they have lost confidence in current goal guardian Petr Cech with a transfer expected to fetch a £20 million fee.
