Tottenham's Harry Redknapp: Ruud van Nistelrooy's Still Got It
Spurs boss says that Dutchman is good enough for a comeback...
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy still has what it takes to cut it in the Premier League, but ruled out the option of swooping for the Dutch hit-man.
The Dutch international, on the outer at current club Real Madrid, has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers - where he'd re-unite with former Blancos defender Michel Salgado.
Redknapp has stated that if it weren't for his extensive list of strikers - Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, and Peter Crouch, then he would be making a bee-line straight for van Nistelrooy.
He told the Press Association: "He's a top player, if he's anywhere near fit I'm sure he can still play for a while but I've never enquired for him."
Rovers may not be the club to snare van Nistelrooy, with the 62-year-old claiming Arsenal to be a likelier destination for the Dutchman.
"I can see him going somewhere like Arsenal."
"Tottenham is a big club - we shouldn't be afraid to compete with these clubs in the transfer market. But what would I do [when] I have [Peter] Crouch, [Robbie] Keane and [Jermain] Defoe and [Roman Pavlyuchenko] 'Pav'.
"If I got Van Nistelrooy, I give myself another problem," he concluded.
