Arsenal Told To Pay £12 Million For Toulouse's Andre-Pierre Gignac - Report

The Frenchman comes with a hefty price-tag...

Ligue 1 : Andre-Pierre Gignac (Toulouse)
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's search for a striker in January could well prove expensive it seems, after Toulouse slapped a £12 million price tag on Andre-Pierre Gignac.

The Daily Mail
reports that the France international is top of the Gunners manager's wishlist, which is also believed to include Inter's Mario Balotelli and Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh.

However, the report indicates that the Girondins have ruled out selling Chamakh in January, despite his becoming a free agent in the summer.

That in turn seems to have driven up Gignac's asking price, and Wenger could well find his famed frugality tested once the transfer window opens.

With Robin van Persie expected to be out for at least five months with ankle ligament damage, and with seemingly no ready-made replacement at the club, January might well yet prove to be an expensive month for the Gunners.
