New Real Madrid Star Benzema Would Love To Play Alongside Ribery

‘Le Phenomene’ has revealed how before he even signed for Madrid that he always dreamt of becoming a Merengue and that he wants to feature alongside Ribery at club level.

Real Madrid’s recent mega capture, Karim Benzema has already fulfilled one of his life-long dreams after his favourite childhood club snapped him up.

Although the player has yet to give his first statements since the transfer, he revealed during an interview with Canal Plus programme ‘Fiebre Maldini’ back in December of last year that he always wanted to play at the Santiago Bernabeu and that he would love to star next to Franck Ribery.

“Real Madrid is a dream for me. They are a team who I’ve liked since I was small. I promised my mom [that I would play for them] and it is gradually about to happen,” he began.

“I’ve always said that I would love to play for them because they were my team when I was young. Besides, I used to like only Spanish football and the only thing I watched was La Liga.

“This was a time when Madrid had Ronaldo, [David] Beckham and [Zinedine] Zidane,” he added.

Back at the time of the interview, Benzema was also asked if he would leave Lyon to join Bayern Munich and play alongside his good friend, Ribery.

“It’s not that I like the German Bundesliga, but the truth is that Ribery is a good friend of mine and he is someone I would like to play with,” he replied.

“It doesn’t matter to me which shirt [team] we play in.”

Benzema, who is expected to sign a six-year contract once he completes his Madrid medical, could have both his wish come true this summer if Los Blancos are able to prise Ribery away from Bayern, who have repeated countless times that their star attacker will not be sold.
