Panathinaikos Target Valencia's Marchena - Report

News daily Marca suggests Panathinaikos are lining up a bid for Valencia central defender Carlos Marchena.

Carlos Marchena, Valencia (PA)
Marchena is the latest name of a number of players linked with football away from the Mestalla following the club's financial problems.

While Marchena's team-mate David Villa appears to be the strongest candidate to leave the club, Valencia's determination to hang onto their prized striker may see them doing business for other players.

And according to Marca, Panathinaikos are interested in adding the central defender to their list of summer reinforcements.

Fenerbahçe forward Dani Güiza claimed on Sunday he would relish the chance to join Valencia to play alongside Marchena but his hopes of a reunion with his Spain colleague, now on club level, appear to be dead in the water.
