South Africa Favourite Matthew Booth Fancies Premier League Move
The Bafana Bafana defender has stated that he could be on his way to England...
The tall central defender has been impressing in this year's Confederations Cup, and he has seemingly been attracting interest from the Premier League.
South Africa are the hosts of the tournament this year, and Booth has become a firm fan favourite over the course of the competition.
The 32-year-old has played in Europe before, playing for Russian Premier League side Krylia Sovetov Samara, but now plays his football in his homeland for Mamelodi Sundowns.
The South Africa international has revealed he had trials in England, but nothing came of it, and says that the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world.
Speaking to The Mirror, Booth said, "I've tried my luck there a few times and things don't seem to have worked out.
"I had a few trials, but either they didn't press for it or we couldn't agree on a fee. But if there's some interest after this tournament I'd love to move.
"Any professional footballer would love to play in England because it's the best league in the world."
Booth has made just four appearances for the South African club, without scoring.
