I-League: I'm Staying At Churchill - Kalu
Kalu Nnanna’s exceptional season meant that he was one of the hottest properties in the transfer market and like most of his team-mates; the Nigerian has decided to stay back at Churchill Brothers for another season.
Earlier this week, Churchill Alemao informed Goal.com that his star midfielder was asking a hefty sum and hence, the club hasn’t yet obtained the prized signature.
“Kalu hasn’t yet signed as he is asking for a hefty sum but we are confident of coming to an agreement with him,” said Alemao.
If Kalu’s words are to go by, then the agreement isn’t far away as he hopes to continue with the I-League champions after a successful season with them.
“I’ll play for Churchill Brothers in the next season. We will be playing the AFC Cup which is one of the most important competitions in Asia. It gives me a chance to showcase what God has given me. It’s good for my CV (curriculum vitae) as well,” said Kalu.
Though the midfielder had a number of offers to choose from, he believes it’s the AFC Cup factor which got him to make his mind.
“There have been lots of offers and I had to think it over a lot,” added the 21 year old. It is believed that the player hasn't yet put pen to paper.
Churchill Brothers face Mohun Bagan later this evening in the Super Cup and the medio is more than ready to devour them.
“It will be a great match. I just hope it will be our day. A win means another trophy for us. We will then have three trophies and there will be a big celebration. I can assure you of that. Let’s see what happens after the 90 minutes,” signed off the burly Nigerian.
