I-League: Surkumar For Salgaocar
Salgaocar SC do have big plans for the coming season and have reportedly roped in the services of East Bengal defender Surkumar Singh.
As East Bengal coach Subhash Bhowmick told Goal.com of his decision to have only a couple of national team players in his squad, the high profile exits were more than expected though it’s a well-known fact that the right back wasn’t keen on playing for the Red and Gold’s any which ways.
The Indian international has always switched between Kolkata and Mumbai and has plied his trade only for East Bengal and Mahindra United. This is the first time the Manipuri would play for a Goan club. Surkumar had an injury ridden season and couldn’t feature in many games and in those that he did, he was either half-fit or forced.
Meanwhile, having impressed against Mohun Bagan in the 15th round of the I-League which could have seen Mohammedan Sporting shock the giants, Suraj Mondal has been rewarded with a contract by the I-League runners-up.
Mondal joined Mohammedan Sporting on loan from Railway FC at the start of the second phase and from being an unknown entity made a name for himself in the last three months or so.
