thumbnail Hello,

With Cristiano missing though injury for Real Madrid in their 4-1 win against Galatasaray on Wednesday, the right-back scored for only the sixth time in his professional career

Alvaro Arbeloa claims he has told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he will take care of scoring goals for the club in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Arbeloa netted for just the sixth time in his professional career as he popped up in the area to poke home Angel Di Maria's cross in the second half of his side's 4-1 win over Galatasaray on Wednesday, before assisting another for the Argentine, flashing a volley wide of goal and also having a penalty claim waved away.

The former Liverpool man was given an ovation by the Bernabeu crowd at the end and was delighted with his new-found form in front of goal.

"I have told the president that I'll score the goals when Cristiano isn't playing," he joked.

The 30-year-old also paid tribute to the Bernabeu faithful, who had jeered him in the 7-3 win against Sevilla last month.

"These fans are very wise and they demand the best," he said. "I would like to thank them for their support; if you play well, they reward you."

Ronaldo, meanwhile, is expected to return from his thigh injury against Valladolid on Saturday.
