Borussia Dortmund have received excellent news from the treatment table as Mats Hummels looks set to be fit in time to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final next Saturday.
The influential BVB defender picked up an injury when conceding a penalty in Jurgen Klopp's side's 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim on Saturday, which caused the coach to contemplate the possibility he would be without the Germany international for the Wembley clash.
However, initial fears that the knock he picked up was serious appear to have been calmed and Hummels is feeling positive about featuring in the final on May 25 against their Bundesliga rivals.
He told Sport Bild: "There is nothing broken and it is not as bad as initially feared. I am confident that I will be fit enough for the final."
And team doctor Markus Braun confirmed to Bild: "The chances of the player featuring in the Champions League final are absolutely realistic!"
Dortmund relinquished the Bundesliga title after two successive German crowns this season as Bayern thundered to a dominating league win, triumphing by 25 points in the end.
