Buffon: Bayern won't be happy to face Juventus

Buffon: Bayern won't be happy to face Juventus

Latest Van Persie slams 'cowardly' Uefa after Nani red card Previous Next Mourinho: We need to win first Galatasaray game

The Italy international has little doubt that FCB realise they face a tough task in eliminating the Serie A champions from Europe

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes Bayern Munich will not be pleased to have been paired with the Serie A champions in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The experienced shot-stopper admits Bayern have a better record than Juve in European club football's elite competition, but has stressed the Bianconeri are a force to be reckoned with, too.

"We should approach the Champions League in the same way we’ve done up until now, hoping to gain the plaudits for a pro-active style of play, whilst also looking to gain the respect of our opponents. By and large we’ve achieved this objective," Buffon was quoted as saying on the official Juve website.

"In the quarter-finals it's only right for us to encounter a team with a worldwide reputation like Bayern. I don’t think they’ll be happy to face us, meaning we’re respected and possess a certain fear factor.

"It will be tough to try and win it. There are three or four teams, including Bayern, who have a better Champions League record than ours in recent years.

"But the good thing is that everyone starts off on a level playing field. A slice of luck or detail could be the difference between winning or losing, but it’s important to know that you’re able to play the game."

The first leg of the tie between Juve and Bayern takes place at the Allianz Arena on April 2.

Champions League Live: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund
German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will battle it out at Wembley for European glory. Get involved by sending us your thoughts via Twitter (Goal_India_) or Facebook!

Brendon Netto: Well despite Bayern's muscle in pretty much every department of the club, you have to say that Dortmund speaks to neutrals. They have the underdog tag going for them. For Bayern, they're fighting to avoid failure tonight but Dortmund will be playing their hearts out for a dream. I think the neutrals are drawn in by that. They were on the brink of bankruptcy in 2005 so their success now is a fascinating story. They play an attractive brand of football, they are a real people's club, they've got a charasmatic manager and they are run well. They haven't come this far with oil money or middle eastern benifactors.
11:20 PM IST
Mrunal Nakashe: I think its clear that Bayern are clear favorites. But people are rightly enchanted by the romance in Dortmund's story. Bayern could be back here soon byt maybe not their opponents on the night and hence fans going with the 'underdogs' theory.
11:18 PM IST
Aman Arora: Its a definite case of supporting the team as no one expected them to reach the final. A team with young players, beautiful football attracts fans to them and thus most people want the story to end in the best manner
11:18 PM IST
Ayush Srivastava: Well everyone has heard the Dortmund fairytale and Jurgen Klopp has a very charismatic personality. Bayern Munich are seen as chokers, thanks to their recent run in the UCL over the past three years. All of this coupled with Dortmund's fantastic playing style means that they are now fan favourites
11:16 PM IST
We have seen most fans vote for Dortmund's victory a sign of their growing fan base. Why do you think fans are opting for them instead of the obvious choice of Bayern who,are the favourites? Is it because of their style or is it a case of supporting an underdog?
