Robben: Arsenal loss a wake-up call for Bayern
The Dutchman has stressed that the Bundesliga leaders cannot afford to lose focus if they are to go all the way in Europe
Arjen Robben has voiced his disappointment with Bayern Munich's 2-0 loss against Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.The Bavarians had won the first leg 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium back in February, but they struggled in the return at home as the Gunners nearly turned things around, and Robben hopes Wednesday evening's narrow escape on the away goals rule will serve as a wake-up call for Bayern.
"It shouldn't be happening, but it happens. We spoke about it in the dressing room and we were forewarned. They had nothing to lose and gave everything. We weren't aggressive enough, especially in the first half," Robben was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"But at the end of the day, maybe there's a positive aspect, a wake-up call of sorts. We've been praised from all sides, but look what can happen.
"We have to maintain our concentration, because it was a close run thing at the end. Overall, Arsenal deserved the win."
The draw for the quarter-finals takes place in Nyon on Friday.
