Subotic: Dortmund have matured
The Serbia international has hailed Dortmund's display against Shakhtar and feels they have showed what they are capable of
Neven Subotic believes that Borussia Dortmund have matured since last season following their Champions League round of 16 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. The German giants booked their ticket for the quarter-finals by beating Shakhtar 3-0 at the Westfalenstadion after previously recording a 2-2 draw in the first leg, and Subotic has stressed BVB have learned from their mistakes.
"Luck plays a big part. Last year we had a lot of bad luck in games where we played better and ended up losing, but this year we've learned from our mistakes and are a little more experienced, as we showed on Tuesday," Subotic told the official Uefa website.
"The only way Shakhtar were going to score was if we did something stupid, and we didn't, so that shows we're maturing.
"We showed the whole world watching that, even though we're young, we have the courage and quality to do it our way."
The draw for the quarter-finals will take place in Nyon on March 15.
