TEAM NEWS: Smalling returns to Manchester United starting XI for trip to face Braga

Chris Smalling makes his first appearance for Manchester United in six months, as he returns to the starting line-up in place of the rested Rio Ferdinand for the Champions League clash with Braga.

Elsewhere, Rafael is also rested, with Antonio Valencia filling in at right-back, while Nani gets a rare start on the right side of midfield, alongside Anderson and Ryan Giggs, with Michael Carrick among the substitutes.

Up front, Robin van Persie drops to the bench, with Danny Welbeck and Chicharito partnering Wayne Rooney in what is likely to be a front three.
