Hummels: Gladbach win a confidence boost ahead of Manchester City clash

The Germany international has stressed that it was important for Dortmund to return to winning ways ahead of Wednesday's Champions League encounter
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has made it clear that their 5-0 Bundesliga win over Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend is a real confidence boost ahead of their upcoming game against Manchester City.

The reigning German champions had collected only one point from their previous two games, and Hummels was delighted to see BVB return to winning ways on Saturday evening ahead of matchday 2 in the Champions League.

"A win like this certainly gives you more self-confidence for your next game," Hummels was quoted as saying on the official Bundesliga website.

"We have a really tough task to come with [Manchester] City, but we are all looking forward to it.

"Of course we are going to try and keep our discipline, but also to take some courage out of today's game.

"It was vitally important that we won and that we kept a clean sheet - and that we shook off a few insecurities."

Wednesday's away game against Manchester City kicks off at 20:45CET.
