The organising body plans to have a 32-team "shadow" tournament in which clubs that qualify for the senior campaign will also send youth teams to square off
The organisation has revealed plans to create a U19 variant of Europe's elite tournament, which will run throughout the club season. The competition will rival the NextGen Series, which was founded in 2011 and has an age limit of 18 years.
Each of the 32 clubs that qualify for the Champions League proper will be invited to send a team to compete at under-19 level.
The youth tournament will not exactly mirror the senior competition, however: the knock-out matches will be single-legged, while both the semi-finals and finals will take place on neutral territory.
