thumbnail Hello,

The Spain international had nothing but positive words for his young team-mate and also expressed his satisfaction with Jose Mourinho's squad rotation

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has taken the time to praise team-mate Raphael Varane in the wake of their 3-0 Champions League Group D win over Ajax at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening.

The Spanish titans were without some first-team regulars against the Eredivisie champions but recorded a routine win nonetheless, and Ramos is pleased with his side's strength in depth.

"Varane is very young and he played at a high level. He proved he has a place on the team. He is a great footballer despite his young age and may go very far," Ramos was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"Having great replacements and playing at a high level with them says a lot about a team. Mourinho is the one who has to administer the squad throughout the season, which is long. He sees how fit we all are and how we feel. He decides.

"We're always excited to play and it's clear we are on an ideal path and that we're doing a good job."

Real Madrid sit top of the table in Group D with six points from two games.
