Poor display due to injury claims Fabregas senior
The Gunners crashed out of the Champions League at the Nou Camp losing 3-1 on the night, and 4-3 on aggregate, with Fabregas contributing to his side's downfall with a suicidal backheel on the edge of his own 18-yard box leading to Lionel Messi’s opener.
The Gunners captain issued an immediate apology to his team-mates after the incident but his dad admitted the defeat and the error has weighed heavily on the mind of the midfielder.
He told The Sun: "I talked to Cesc after the game and he told me he felt so powerless that he just wanted to shoot himself.
"He was looking forward to this match with much enthusiasm. It was such a special game for him because it was against Barcelona in the Nou Camp.
"But it turned out to be one of the worst days of his life.
"His display was badly affected by his physical condition.
"From the first moment he realised he shouldn't be playing.
"After 10 minutes he was feeling his leg. He wanted to contribute but was left behind while Barcelona had a great game."
Fabregas has struggled with hamstring problems throughout this season which has seen him fall down the Castrol Rankings from a position of 21 back in September to a current ranking of 47.
