Roma Coach Claudio Ranieri: Our Aim Is To Play Our Own Style Of Football Against Bayern Munich
Roma coach Claudio Ranieri says his side are not scared of Bayern Munich...
By Rick D'Andrea
"We are taking on the Champions League finalists - a very strong side. But we are Roma," Ranieri reiterated to Sport.it. "We may have our problems, but we come here to play our own match.
"We know who we are playing, but Bayern does not scare us."
Ranieri admits that despite the Bavarian giants standing out in the group, one of the other three teams can qualify for the knockout phase, as there is nothing between them.
"This is only the first match in the group stage. Even though Bayern stands out a bit, the other three teams [Roma, Basel and Cluj] have everything to play for.
"We want to beat Bayern and qualify for the next phase. This is our Champions League objective.
The former Valencia, Chelsea and Juventus boss also warned the Germans to watch out for Francesco Totti, after Louis van Gaal claimed the striker was not 'decisive'.
"It is quite clear that he does not know the team well. Francesco is a very important player for us, and I am certain he will play a fantastic match," concluded Ranieri.
