Jose Mourinho’s Inter Were A Clever Side – Former Bayern Munich Defender Sammy Kuffour

The former Ghana international was downhearted as his ex-club fell at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.
Former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour was close to tears as he watched his club sink painfully at the hands of a heartless Inter in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

It was an emotional moment for the former Ghana international, who once won the coveted cup with the German club in 2001.

“It’s sad. I feel bad. I’d wanted Bayern to make it but football is unpredictable.

“Inter were much more clever than Munich. They stayed compact and Cambiasso never moved forward but stayed in front of the defence. When it happens like it is difficult to penetrate the defence,” a visibly disappointed Kuffour told after Inter's 2-0 win.

“Inter were mentally and physically strong. The players were willing to die for the coach [Jose Mourinho]. He’s like a father to them and whatever he tells them they do. Look at Sammy [Eto’o]. He was prepared to stay back just because he wants to obey the coach’s strategy and at the end of the day the clever side won,” he remarked.

“I was for Bayern, but Inter deserved to win and they did just that. Winning is a great feeling and nobody can take it away from you. I’m happy for my African brothers Sulley Muntari and Samuel Eto’o.”
