Milan Want First Place In Group - Gianluca Zambrotta

The Rossoneri were held to a 1-1 draw by Marseille last night, but that has not dampened their hopes of finishing top of the group...

Gianluca Zambrotta - Milan (Grazia Neri)
Milan full-back Gianluca Zambrotta highlighted the importance of the clash against Zurich in the final match of the group stage in the Champions League and revealed that his team are still targeting top spot in the group.

The Rossoneri were disappointed with Wednesday evening’s 1-1 draw against Olympique Marseille, when they failed to obtain mathematical qualification to the next round.

“The next game against Zurich will be important, we will have to go there to win, hoping then to arrive first in the group,” declared Zambrotta to Milan Channel.

“Maybe today we were less brilliant than usual and maybe we conceded a bit more in the second part. However, the draw is still good. We were more in difficulty also because we were feeling the fatigue

“Now we will fight with all our strength, then we shall add things up later on. Fiorentina deserves the compliments for qualifying with one matchday to go and, for the others, we shall be playing everything in the last matchday, then we will see what will happen.”

Milan will now focus on Serie A, as they try to decrease the gap of seven points which divides them from league leaders Inter.
