Bayern Munich may be struggling at present, but winger Arjen Robben proved on Wednesday evening against Girondins de Bordeaux that he is recovering well from knee surgery.
The 25-year-old’s introduction from the bench had an immediate impact on his side’s goalscoring potential, though they would eventually lose 2-0 to the French champions in a vital Champions League encounter.
“You can always add fresh impetus when you have Robben as a weapon in reserve,” general manager Uli Hoeness told reporters in advance of the midweek encounter.
Meanwhile, Robben told the club's official website, “It’s still a tough situation for me. I’m still not fully fit. I need more training and more time. However, I know the club’s in a difficult situation and I want to help the team."
A report on the Bayern website suggests the former Real Madrid star will return to the starting XI on Saturday, when FCB meet Schalke 04.
