Cesc Fabregas May Return For Arsenal's Roma Clash

Cesc Fabregas could be back in action later this month against Roma.

Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has handed the Gunners a welcome boost by revealing he could be fit in time to face Roma in the Champions League.

The Spaniard suffered a serious knee injury back in December playing for Arsenal against Liverpool and has been sidelined ever since.

However, he has spoken out in recent weeks about his recovery, which he has admitted is going well, and his doctor, Ramon Cugat, has now revealed the midfielder could be fit and back in action later this month.

According to the Daily Mirror, when asked if Fabregas could make Arsenal’s Champions League date with Roma on February 24, he replied, “I think so.

“The Arsenal doctors said it normally takes three-and-a-half months to recover because of the way it happened.

“But I believe he will return quicker than then. I recognise that the player needs to be ready, to have good mobility and stability and that he needs to feel good after returning to training.”

The news, if it proves to be correct, would mean that Arsenal would only now be without their captain for tomorrow’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, their FA Cup replay against Cardiff City and a Premier League tie with Sunderland at the Emirates.

Cugat insisted that the best judge of all had to be the player but did confess that he believed Fabregas’ recovery was ahead of schedule.

"The one that will know best is the player. I saw him last week,” he said.

“He passed the tests, there had been a clear improvement. He was expecting to make a speedy recovery.

“What is even better is that he could recover more quickly than is considered normal, which is very good.”
